Tongatapu to Ha’apai and Vava’u
The ferry from Tongatapu to Ha’apai and Vava’u will commence in April. See here for more info.
Travellers wishing to visit Ha’apai and Vava’u should contact Tonga’s domestic airline, Chathams Pacific.
Tongatapu to ‘Eua
MV Alaimoana and MV ’Ikale are the two ferries that go to ‘Eua.
The ferry takes approximately 2 hours and costs approximately TOP$27 one way.
Timetable:
- Ferry TO ‘Eua is Tuesdays, Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays. Departure time is 12.30pm.
- Ferry FROM ‘Eua is Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays and Saturdays. Departure time is 5am.
- Once the ferry arrives in ‘Eua, it stays overnight leaving for Nuku’alofa the next morning, except when the ferry gets to ‘Eua on Saturday it stays over leaving Monday morning.
Notes:
- The Tonga Visitors Bureau has made every effort to ensure the travel intinerary is accurate and up-to-date.

Tongatapu to Niua
The local passenger ferry MV Olovaha travels to the Niuas once a month. Please check with the Tonga Visitors Bureau for the latest timetable.
