New and improved Heilala Holiday Lodge

Mar 4th, 2010 by Tonga Visitors Bureau | 0

The Heilala Holiday Lodge is in the process of moving from their original location at Tofoa Village to a new beach-front property on Ha’atafu Beach in Kanokupolu Village, on the Western side of Tongatapu. The opening of the new and improved Heilala Holiday Lodge is scheduled for the 1st of July 2010.

When Heilala Holiday Lodge was first established, in 1994, it consisted of only five budget rooms. Furthermore, the Friendly Island Experience (previously called Reisedienst Quick Tours) only had a five seater mini van. Over the years , the Lodge added three Tongan fales and three Superior fales as well as an onsite restaurant. During the same period, the Friendly Island Experience upgraded their fleet and began to offer their now popular island tours, airport transfers and tourist information.

When the new and improved Heilala Holiday Lodge is completed, there will be four standard rooms, four Tongan fales and six Superior fales as well as a communal guest kitchen, an onsite restaurant and a café in a botanical garden setting! Even though Heilala Holiday Lodge (still under the same Management) updated their facilities and their location (to one of the best beaches and favoured snorkeling/surfing spots in Tongatapu), their rates are only expected to change marginally!

A re-location special will be available and will be advertised on the Lodge’s website in March or April 2010. For those that are interested in the move, you can follow the relocation process on the Lodge’s blog. For more details on the new Heilala Holiday Lodge, please email stay@heilala.to
